Missions and Outreach
The purpose of Missions & Outreach at John Calvin Presbyterian Church is to train and equip ordinary people to go and do extraordinary things in the name of Jesus so that all might see, hear and experience God’s love in tangible ways.
PGCCS Head Start is a comprehensive, school readiness program providing preschool services in a classroom setting.
Our Program provides the following:
Preschool Program for ages 3-5 years;
Creative Curriculum which is a research based curriculum;
Social Emotional skills are taught daily in the classroom with our curriculum, Conscious Discipline, which includes teaching problem solving, identifying feelings and stress management skills;
Teaching Strategies GOLD ongoing child assessment which aligns with Arizona Early Learning Standards and assists teachers in individualizing for each child.
Vision and hearing screenings as well as height/weight assessments to promote overall child health;
Engagement activities with families to identify strengths, local resources and goal setting using the assessment Family Map;
Work with school districts to identify children who may be at risk of developmental delay;
Work with families and providers to ensure children have current physical exams, dental exams, appropriate testing; and treatment as needed to ensure each child is healthy and ready to learn;
Provide consultation and referrals for children and families as needed.
Project HELP is a program within Apache Junction Unified School District offering assistance to families of children attending Apache Junction Schools.
Operation Christmas Child
From children to seniors, people pack shoebox gifts each year to bless children in need around the world. Parents often use the project to teach their kids about giving. Year-round volunteers support these efforts across the country.
AJ Food Bank
On the first Sunday of every month we will collect food for the AJ food bank. We are especially in need of protein products such as peanut butter and protein bars. Other non-perishable food items are welcome. Please Make sure all donations are not expired or opened.
Hope Women's Center
Hope Women’s Center is a Christian non-profit organization that has served vulnerable women and teen girls in Apache Junction and the surrounding communities for over 32 years. Thousands of women, teens and their families have received free services and care through our education, mentoring, pregnancy support and material resource programs.
Hope Women’s Center serves women facing any difficult life situation. Whether they are faced with poverty, domestic or sexual abuse, unplanned pregnancy, unemployment, single parenting, prostitution, drug/alcohol abuse, or family conflict, our trained mentors and teachers are available to help provide assistance, encouragement, support, and the necessary tools to make positive changes for their future.
The Genesis Project is a coalition of churches in the Apache Junction area banded together for the common purpose of aiding the less fortunate.
